Congratulations to Michael Cavalla, Partner in our Wills, Trusts and Probate team who celebrates his 25th anniversary this week.
Mike joined what was then Sylvester and Mackett in March 1992 just shy of his 30th birthday. Coming from a large London firm it was somewhat of a culture shock moving from the West End of London to the centre of Trowbridge! At that time the firm had three Equity Partners and three Salaried Partners, all under one roof in Trowbridge as that was then the only office. Mike remembers they only had two word processors at the time so had to write out Wills by hand and then take them across to the other building to be typed out.
In those days Mike was a Legal Executive, and was persuaded by a couple of the then Partners (John Elliott and Roger Karn) to take the Legal Practice Course and eventually qualified as a solicitor.
That was in 1998 and around the same time he was asked by a young Matthew Paterson, to help him man a Young Solicitors stall at a Jobs Fair in Trowbridge Civic Hall, several years later they met for lunch and the rest as they say, is history: Forrester Sylvester Mackett was born.
Having worked for a few firms now, Mike believes that FSM is one of the best, however having said that, he does not intend to do another twenty-five years!
