Stewart Donald

Partner, Solicitor and Head of Private Client
Department & Location: Chippenham, Private Client, Wills, Trusts & Probate

As an Equity Partner and Solicitor, I co‑head the Wills, Trusts & Probate Department alongside Claire Curtis and help clients plan for the future with confidence.

I qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 and am a full member of both The Association of Lifetime Lawyers (previously Solicitors for the Elderly) and The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

My practice areas include:

  • All aspects of Wills, Trusts & Probate planning
  • Lifetime and tax planning, including Inheritance Tax mitigation
  • Setting up Charities and Trusts
  • Estate administration, including complex and international Estates

I particularly enjoy tax planning and advising on Inheritance Tax mitigation, taking a holistic approach to ensure clients’ plans work in practice as well as on paper.

Examples of my work:

  • Managing an Estate with worldwide assets exceeding £15 million.
  • Establishing Trusts to protect Business Property Relief and Agricultural Property Relief.
  • Supporting a local Charity to ensure a public playing field continued to benefit the community.
  • Advising farmers and business owners on planning and tax efficient structures.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my young daughter, reading and attending the theatre.
