Excellence in legal practice management and client care
Lexcel is the Law Society’s quality mark and shows that a law firm meets high standards of client care and management. Firms are independently assessed before they are awarded the quality mark and this is reviewed every year to make sure that they are still working to the same high standards.
We were first awarded the Lexcel accreditation in 2000 and have retained it since then, giving our clients assurance of our commitment to providing them with a first class service.
We are always looking for ways to improve our service and welcome feedback from clients to help us make positive changes.
The Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) provides a recognised quality standard for residential conveyancing firms. Our membership establishes a level of credibility with regulators, lenders and insurers as well as residential homebuyers and sellers.
Many of our private client team are members of SFE (Solicitors for the Elderly) which is an independent, national organisation of lawyers, such as solicitors, barristers, and chartered legal executives who provide specialist legal advice for older and vulnerable people, their families and carers. Forrester Sylvester Mackett is a merger of Forrester & Forrester and Sylvester Mackett, two of Wiltshire’s oldest and most respected law firms with histories beginning in the 1800s.
Sylvester Mackett’s roots go back to 1894 when Paul Sylvester opened his first office in Wicker Hill, Trowbridge. The success of the firm was such that shortly after World War I it expanded to include a new partner, Fred Mackett. Our connection with Paul Sylvester is still in evidence, with our Trowbridge office at Castle House originally the Sylvester family home.
William Forrester was one of two partners who set up a successful practice in Malmesbury in 1855, and his son opened Forrester & Forrester in Chippenham some 80 years later. The firm grew rapidly as they continued to operate successfully.
The two firms were always very active in the local business and social community, with their ethos of strong community links remaining part and parcel of who we are today.
